In 2020 as Britain shutdown, a idea was conceived to create a new magazine showcasing the work of 12 artists from Glasgow, Edinburgh and the UK. Creatively and conceptively different to anything we had ever printed, we were immediately intrigued by Nova Express. Self-publisher Billy McCall's vision was to have the pages sealed so that the reader would have to break in to read the content. Following in-depth consultation, we achieved this by leaving the sheets untrimmed as they came off our B2 litho press then folded and bound them. The effect is to have the second half of the book sealed on the top edge which achieves the design brief!
The 240x170mm continues to be a winning size between A5 and A4 when you are printing enough copies for our litho press (generally over 500).
The content is a visual treat and each double-page spread is exciting, diverse and engaging.
