Case Study: Leftovers Zine – A Visual Feast of Shimmering Shenanigans ????????

Overview

Feast your eyes on the Leftovers Zine, a vibrant concoction of imagery and type that invigorates the senses. As a leading provider of zine printing with USA delivery, we at ExWhyZed had the pleasure of bringing to life this striking zine for @leftoverstogo. Each page of the zine is a visual smorgasbord, making it a challenge to decide which images to highlight!

Leftovers Zine is not your average publication. It embodies an eclectic mixture of styles and subjects, creating a truly unique reading experience. Whether you’re a lover of innovative typography or a fan of dynamic design, this zine has something to captivate everyone.

The Creation Journey

The creators of Leftovers Zine entrusted ExWhyZed with the task of printing their visual fiesta. The zine was printed in A5 format, with a 4pp cover onto 170gsm Uncoated and matt lamination to the outer. The 28pp text was printed onto 115gsm Uncoated, maintaining the organic, tactile feel of the zine.

With ExWhyZed’s expertise in zine printing and delivery across the UK and the USA, we ensured that this kaleidoscope of creativity reached a broad audience. The finished product was trimmed, collated, and wire-stitched, resulting in a professionally produced zine that kept its raw, artistic essence.

Transcending Genres and Borders

Leftovers Zine stands as a testament to the versatility and power of the zine format. As seen in other projects we’ve had the privilege to work on, such as the Wolf Alice Tour Zines, Ella Joseph’s Urban Nature Zines, and the poignant Blacklist 2020 Zine, zines provide an unmatched platform for diverse expression.

The bold graphics and playful typography of Leftovers Zine are reminiscent of the Shellsuit Zombie project, while the fusion of imagery and text echoes the creativity seen in George Ezra’s Gold Rush Kid Album Zine. Much like the Hate Zine Issue 2, Leftovers Zine serves as a reminder of the power of self-publishing and the artistic freedom it affords.

The Final Chapter

Packed with shenanigans, the Leftovers Zine is a perfect example of a self-published zine that uses design and typography to its utmost potential. This project truly showcases the power of zines and self-publishing, much like the That Was What She Said Zine and other innovative projects we’ve worked on.

At ExWhyZed, we’re proud to support such a diverse array of projects and help bring these artistic visions to life. With our high-quality zine printing services, we’re here to make your creative dreams a reality. So, whether you’re an established zine creator or just starting out, get in touch and let’s create something amazing together! ????????

Ex Why Zed makes self publishing a truly pleasurable experience!
Brilliant communication from start to finish. Mike had endless patience for the many questions we asked. The guides provided were easy to follow and super helpful (the video guides are a must watch too). Our order of hardback illustrated children's books was delivered expertly packaged and on time. As for the finished product itself - stunning - a real joy to finally hold, beautifully made and perfectly printed! We couldn't have asked for more. Well, we did - we instantly placed an order for paperback children's colouring books too, which we are equally as happy with. Look forward to working with Ex Why Zed again in the future.
